Background of the Study
Education grants play a crucial role in improving the quality of education in local communities. However, the effective tracking and utilization of these funds in Gwer West Local Government Area (LGA) have been challenging due to inefficient manual systems. The introduction of an Accounting Information System (AIS) could significantly enhance the tracking of education grants, ensuring transparency and accountability in their management.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the critical role of education grants in funding local education projects, Gwer West LGA faces challenges in tracking the utilization of these grants due to the lack of an effective AIS. This study will examine how AIS can be employed to track the flow and usage of education grants and improve the accountability of educational programs.
Aim and Objectives of the Study
Aim: To assess the utilization of Accounting Information System (AIS) in tracking education grants in Gwer West Local Government Area.
Objectives:
To explore the current methods used in tracking education grants in Gwer West LGA.
To examine the impact of AIS on improving the tracking and management of education grants.
To identify the challenges faced in implementing AIS for tracking education grants.
Research Questions
What methods are currently used to track education grants in Gwer West LGA?
How does the adoption of AIS improve the tracking of education grants?
What challenges are encountered in the implementation of AIS for tracking education grants?
Research Hypothesis
H₀: The adoption of AIS does not significantly improve the tracking and management of education grants in Gwer West LGA.
H₀: There are no significant challenges in implementing AIS for tracking education grants in Gwer West LGA.
Significance of the Study
This study will provide valuable insights into the role of AIS in improving the tracking of education grants, which could lead to more efficient and transparent management of funds in Gwer West LGA. The findings may also serve as a guide for other LGAs with similar challenges.
Scope and Limitation of the Study
The study will focus on the tracking and utilization of education grants in Gwer West LGA, with limitations including potential resistance to adopting new technologies and lack of access to full financial records.
